Three Generations of Mothers

Happy Mother's Day Poem

Mother

                                           A Poem by Shequera Donshell

Today we celebrate the most rewarding title… MOTHER,
A simple word that holds POWER and STRENGTH like no other.
As a Mother, we couldn’t wait for the day that our child(ren) made their debut ,
Because from that day forward we had their face and smiles to look forward to.
Hearing their beating hearts and feeling the movement inside our protective womb,
They’ve provided us with purpose, reason, and room to bloom.
We realize we’re much more capable of handling the challenges constantly thrown our way,
Sacrificing our body, sleep, social life, and energy… Lord let us pray.
Being a Mother is not a title for the weak,
Although, even us strong Mothers, have had times where we sorrow, scream, and weep.
The joy of our child(ren) and never-ending entertainment has become the best kind of healing,
As we cherish the gift , ongoing experience, and indescribable feeling.
We are not only lucky, but we were chosen and here to stay,
As we get to celebrate a day just for us, titled… Mother’s Day.
